This week is an all-video edition of our digital smorgasbord. I've got a selection of interesting and helpful videos for your perusal.
⬨An Atheist Sci-Fi Franchise Just Went Full Christian
"Star Trek has long had a complicated and changing relationship with religion. ... It came full circle when the captain of the Enterprise got down on his knees and started reciting the Lord’s Prayer in the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 premiere."
I wish they'd make a follow-up to this, because there were other, more subtle, hints of the Christian faith in season 3. It's a little much to say they "went full Christian", but treating religion and religious ideas with respect may hopefully open minds, or at least soften attitudes, of viewers who were hostile to Christianity.
⬨Learn from My Students' Mistakes
Those of us who don't know Hebrew or Greek can benefit in Bible study by comparing translations. If we don't make these mistakes. Mark Ward has some important lessons for us.
⬨Our hostile culture
Are you a "grace giver" or a "truth teller"? Do you know what your particular weakness is? Do you have a theology of losing friends? The whole conversation with Mike Winger, Natasha Crain, and Katy Faust is worth watching, but the 4 minutes after my time stamp is excellent.
⬨AI Destroys Everything, Including Atheism
"AI only needs to seem right rather than be right", and "if you accept naturalism and evolution, you can't think of your cognitive faculties as being reliable, as giving you the actual truth about the world." How do these two statements go together?
Glen Scrivener comments on a recent video about AI slop, with the help of an argument made by Alvin Plantinga, and shows how it defeats naturalism.
